Abstract:

Diabetes management devices have revolutionized diabetes care by enabling precise, real-time measurement and optimal treatment planning. From early urine glucose tests to today’s continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices and implantable sensors, technological advances have significantly improved patient convenience, safety, and well-being. Implantable CGMs, in particular, represent a milestone by providing long-term, low-burden glucose monitoring. This article traces the historical evolution of diabetes diagnostic and care devices, examines major innovations such as smart CGMs and artificial pancreas systems, and explores future possibilities like biodegradable sensors and AI-based solutions. Together, these technologies promise a future of more accurate and individualized diabetes management
